An interesting read from Christopher Wray the lawyer who heads the FBI, following his 2 year anniversary in the role. Cyber complexity and sophistication has changed over the years and its use has spread from nation state actors through to criminal gangs. But the nature hasn’t changed, its the scope and depth which is the issue.
Including IP theft to take competitive advantage, the industrialization of cyber tools taking cyber to teenagers bedrooms and malware as a service. Examples which have helped make cyber a formidable geopolitical and social weapon. Allowing criminal gangs to operate with the same level of sophistication as Nation States and in some case supported by them.
It requires a different mindset to address the consequences to manage the risk. One of collaboration and innovation in thinking and delivery, requiring a whole-of-society approach.
