A bit like London busses, crypto legislation in some form seems to be on the mind of a few regulators. With the Spanish and Singapore financial market regulators being given the power to regulate crypto advertising this week.
The Spanish regulation requires influencers and their sponsors to pre-notify authorities of some posts and to warn of cryptos risks or face fines. In addition recent class actions have cited the influence of celebrities on the price of crypto. One action alleges the backers of EthereumMax used the inrush of cash from Kim Kardashians followers to sell a significant amount of the tokens at a profit.
Demonstrating the challenges crypto and digital assets are going through, and the regulatory lens that is now being applied by global finance regulators to digital assets. The opportunities for digital currency, NFTs and Block chain are significant. But one is starting to see the rise of regulatory attention, that can be managed by platform owners, buyers and sellers without compromising innovation.
