A great paper that pulls together the pieces of strategic cybersecurity risk management and regulation. As we know cyber regulation is one of the most complex and politically sensitive topics for many governments. One the White House ONCD took on in 2023, when it delivered its national Cybersecurity Strategy.

Regulation is probably the only leaver that Governments have to enforce cybersecurity risk management, especially when one considers the depth and breath of the the cyber security problem. A problem that effects all public and private sector organisations and one that have been demonstrated to effect national, economic and societal security. A problem that requires a concerted effort by everyone to address the problem. It’s also been a problem that many have found difficult to recognise, until they face a cyber incident.

So its interesting to read the range of cyber initiatives being delivered by the U.S government and the need for cyber regulatory harmonisation and coordination under the White House, given the strategic importance of cybersecurity to the U.S. and national, economic and societal security.
