Call us now:
A great Saturday post. The U.S Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco discusses the Geopolitical challenges we face and the role of Nation states and their proxies over data theft. The sanctioning of foreign investment used to acquire technology in the U.S and the New Disruptive technology Strike Force.
‘Set up to use intelligence and data analytics to target illicit actors, enhance public-private partnerships to harden supply chains, and identify early warning of threats to our critical assets, like semiconductors.’
Data is our achilles heal. We’ve grown our society around it, we all rely upon it, but we are not securing it. Until Governments get to grip with this and the 99% problem (SME cyber) we will in all likelihood witness the continued rise in successful hacks and data theft and continue to lose IP. Governments rely on public private partnerships to develop technology and data that requires security, security that all to often has fails to protect sensitive IP. The DoD DFARS/ CMMC program, that affects the global DIB is a case in point.
The DoJ has the powers to focus on the legal oversight of data security and regulatory enforcement under the False Claims Act (FCA). Unfortunately it takes one or 2 high profile cases to demonstrate that existing laws can and will be enforced, to drive change.
