A succinct update from ENSIA on EU NIS, highlighting the role of EU member states and covered entities in the management of cybersecurity risk and corporate governance.

Corporate governance, oversight and assurance plays a significant role in the management of cybersecurity risk. U.S and EU regulators both set out requirements for corporate governance of cyber risk by boards and management committees. Introducing civil and criminal penalties against those responsible for the management of cyber risk.

One waits to see how these regulations will be implemented and how covered organisations will respond. As is the way, one suspect that board will only focus on the regulations once cases have been bought for non compliance.
