A very informative read. Malaysia is moving ahead to ratify the Cyber Security Bill 2024. A Bill that aims to enhance national cyber security, establishing a national Cyber Security Committee, provide its CEO with powers to enforce cybersecurity including civil and criminal penalties for compliance, regulate cybersecurity providers and improve the cybersecurity of CNI.

The Bill introduces the concept of NCII, a unique definition of a computer system covered under the Bill. It is defined as “computer or computer system which the disruption to or destruction of the computer or computer system would have a detrimental impact on the delivery of any service essential to the security, defence, foreign relations, economy, public health, public safety or public order of Malaysia, or on the ability of the Federal Government or any of the State Governments to carry out its functions effectively.”

A broad definition and one which encapsulates many domestic and national government services.
