Alan Turing the pioneer of code breaking and computer science is named as the face of the £50 note. I personally believe due to his efforts and those of his team, a significant reason the 2nd World War came to a much swifter conclusion. (Watch the film: The imitation game)
We will never know how many lives he saved. We owe so much. There could be no better or deserving face on the note.
