All CNI sectors rely on manufacturing, manufacturers that have for many years created efficient ‘Just in Time’ lean, global supply chains. Supply Chains that have been been demonstrated susceptible to cyber attacks. Factors including the cost of cyber compliance, access to cyber resources has made the manufacturing sector one of the least prepared sector for cybersecurity risk management. Cyber attacks that affect all tiers of supply chains, supply chains that are tightly integrated through lean and Just In Time.
This will change with the introduction of cyber regulation. The EU is regulating CNI cybersecurity through EU NIS 2.0 and the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is moving to regulate covered market entrants, that include national and international manufacturers across the Automotive, FMCG, Defence, Energy, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical and Agricultural sectors.
The NIST Manufacturing Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) Profile was created to support Manufacturers deliver an appropriate framework to mange cybersecurity. You can find our video on the manufacturing CSF here (https://lnkd.in/efAUubWX), where we discuss the importance of the CSF and its application across manufacturing.
