Allianz raises a note of caution on cyber risk as it tests its approach to raising capital through capital.markets and securitisation of cyber risk.

With recent market sentiment following the Capital One breach showing increased signs of concern over cyber risk management. Recent fines and reported losses highlight the exposure companies face to cyber risk

The Allianz approach to securitisation will be one to follow. The challenge will be scale, testing a small product will not be the same as a large complex securitisation.

I get concerned when we discuss securitisation and cyber. We used mortgages backed securities back in the 2000s and that didnt end well. MBS was an understood risk, cyber isn’t.
