An important read, in what is a positive step. The U.S and EU governments announce they are working together to harmonise cyber incident reporting. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and European Commissions Directorate General for Communications, Networks, Content, and Technology (DG CONNECT) will work to harmonise Cyber Incident Reporting to the Federal Government, and the cybersecurity incident reporting framework under the NIS 2 Directive.
Demonstrating inter-government coordination between the agencies, working to support CISA and ENISA harmonise cyber incident reporting between between their respective regulations. The initiative marks the beginning of a process to align transatlantic cyber incident reporting where feasible.
Our approach will allow governmental authorities to get the information they need to provide cyber defense while streamlining the process for victim organizations,â€Â said Robert Silvers, DHS Under Secretary for Policy and Chair of the Cyber Incident Reporting Council.
One expects this to be a first positive step in harmonizing cybersecurity risk management across the Atlantic. Recognizing the need to coordinate incident response and management between regulations. Impact those covered organisations required to implement cyber regulations in the U.S and EU.
