Are we seeing a rise in ATM cashouts. CISA released an advisory last week (https://lnkd.in/dsYfDfj) of increased FASTCash attacks targeting banks, by North Korean hackers. In what appears to be a very profitable programme, netting around $2bn since 2015
Morocos CIH bank seems to have been targeted, following a report on Friday that it suffered a cashout, using its credit cards. Once inside an organisation FASTCash is a simple vector. The Trojan sits on the payment switch and monitors incoming messages and intercepts attacker-generated fraudulent transaction requests to prevent them from reaching the switch application that processes transactions.
It does beg the question. Are companies running real time monitoring of software changes across critical parts of their estate, in addition to basic AV. Such as payments infrastructure?
