As the cyber incident at Change Healthcare continues to cause disruption. One wonders the effect, with Moody’s and Fitch taking different approaches to evaluating UnitedHealth’s credit worthiness. The financial impact of the incident may not be material to the company in the short term. But there comes a point when other factors overtake financial materiality, for example the effect on patients that require medication Rachel V. Rose, JD, MBA.

The attack could not have come at a worst time for UnitedHealth as the Department of Justice announced this week that it has launched and anti-trust investigation into the company (https://lnkd.in/eRZvzVsa). One wonders which other regulators are paying close attention to UnitedHealth and the incident, and with a 10K filling by UnitedHealth not far off there maybe an evaluation of the material cyber risk submission in the filling?

Maybe Credit ratings will be under the spot light a little longer?
