Audit and assurance are critical for Boards to demonstrate Governance and regulatory compliance. The three-line model is increasingly becoming an important tool for boards to demonstrate their oversight and assurance of risk, and the three-line model relies on internal and external audit.
Cybersecurity regulatory compliance is no exception. Creating a significant legal and regulatory risk and a driver of shareholder value. The EU NIS2, EU DORA, the Cyber Resilience Act, and the United States Department of War CMMC program are examples of Cyber regulations that rely on the 3-line model for compliance.
So it is great to see Liz Sandwith CFIIA, fronting Aegis Labs at the London Business School with Prof Michael G. Jacobides, discussing the critical role the 3rd line plays in supporting boards to assure risk, and the importance of the 3 lines of defence. A role that becomes increasingly critical as organisations are required to comply with cyber regulations and struggle with the knowledge, skills, and experience to do so.
