Australia is moving very quickly to address cybersecurity and that is a positive move. But Australia faces the issue of cyber implementation across the countries public and private sectors.

The regulatory environment that Australia is creating reinforces the need for organisations to implement cybersecurity and protect the security of the nation. The Critical Infrastructure Act and proposed regulation following the recent cyber attacks set out an ambitious cyber regulatory program.

One suspects that the easy part is writing the legislation and enacting it. The hard part will come with implementation and history shows that implementing cyber across SMBs and supply chains is not easy, and likely require government intervention and subsidies. Coming at a time when there are no cyber resources globally and it appears that Australia has made it harder to bring in skilled cyber professionals. (https://lnkd.in/epR9_VpS).

Australia is setting a direction that others will be watching closely.
