Bob Dix, one is equally amazed why no one ever takes hold of FISMA and just implements and enforces it. The US has regulation, executive orders and legal process coming out its ears. All it takes is for government to take what they have and enforce it. FISMA applies to Federal Agencies and enforceable through tried and tested legal process. When one reads, side by side, the latest US and EU cyber regulations and FISMA(that’s been around since 2002 under OMB A-130), there is little fundamental difference. There’s no need for new ‘fancy bottle openers’. Just enforce what is already in place with enough passion, and things may change. It even applies to the DoD and its suppliers (DoDi 8510.01).If the new presidential regime wants to make quick change over federal cyber, its simple.
