3 years in cyber is a lifetime and that’s how long CMMC, or more importantly DFARS 252.204-7021 will take the DoD to fully implement.
More importantly CMMC Level 1 and 2 will make their way into contracts from November 2025, building on existing requirements to self attest and affirm compliance.
Not only will defense contractors have to demonstrate their current compliance with NIST 171 (its been a requirement since 2017), they’ll have to likely contend with the False Claims Act.
