Cyber, a threat to us all. Recent Nation state attacks in the US demonstrate clearly the challenges governments and society face when cyber attacks are focused on National Infrastructure. It is not an underestimate of the potential impact of cyber attacks to cause damage to society beyond stealing personal data.
Cyber is the elephant in the room and has been for several years. It is driving US cyber regulation and whilst not the panacea, it puts a stake in the ground to set the appropriate standards.
The biggest challenge for the UK and Europe is that our defensive cyber strategy is not fit for purpose. When countries like the US expect their global defence contractors to adopt significantly higher standards to protect its data.
A cyber awareness is an issue and important. However UK Business relies on Cyber Essentials which is not widely adopted, to defend UK Plc and plenty has changed over the past 7 years.
