So you’re a security consultancy, called into help a client sort out a ransomware issue. You may even be recommended and paid for by an insurance firm. You provide services and help the client out to resolve their issues.
The question is, could you be the next port of call for the authorities? Could you get a call asking to attend a meeting for a chat about supporting the criminal activities and funding things like terrorism , people trafficking or drugs?
This raises many interesting and yet unresolved issues. Least of all how the protect the good guys, how to ensure that their clients get help and support and how the security industry should get things sorted out in line with such crimes.
