Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. You never know when things change and you are called upon, inadvertently relied upon, as critical national (global) infrastructure (CNI). It may pay to be whiter than white from day 1, however hard that will be. Once you’re in the spot light you become fair (unfair) game.
But we are all responsible for what we say and do online. Only do online what you would do in the office or at home. Our personal and corporate privacy obligations don’t change. If there is any doubt, use a phone or secure email to share info. I agree that there is also an obligation for the service provider to protect our data to.
A simple tip, share a unique word on text to participants prior to the call. Then confirm whose online at the start of the call. It’s not infallible but has worked for 100s if not 1000s of years (not the IT bit, but the shared password bit)
