Data centers in the UK will fall under the category of Critical national Infrastructure (CNI). A move that follows other nation states across the U.S, EU and APAC. It is a move that aligns data centers under the CNI category, benefiting the UK in terms of the protection of data and cybersecurity.
The announcement coincides with the government announcing the £4billion investment in data center capacity in the UK by DC01UK and Amazon committing to spend £8billion in the UK to build and operate data centers.
A good reason to designate data centers CNI.
