Data is one of our most important assets. We live in a world where data, its creation, access and usage integrates nearly all aspects of our daily, corporate a social lives. Without access to digital platforms and the data which they consume todays’ society would not operate. We recognised that we needed to secure data and when we started the data security journey with GDPR. We hoped that the approach was going to deliver a change in attitudes to data security, which did not materialise.
As the UK starts the process to find a new Information Commissionaire, there will be need to build a strong relationship with cyber security. If we get this wrong our adversaries won’t find it difficult to disrupt our way of living, as the US Federal attack in December 2020 demonstrated. Data, cyber security, conventional security, supply chain risk management are intrinsically linked.
