Digital assets are an interesting market at the moment. One where there appears to be little certainty about what the future looks like. On one side some crypto currencies have surged ahead, creating significant value for their owners, falling recently, and NFTS performed strongly in 2021. On the other governments are looking closely at the digital asset market to balance the need for digital innovation with the financial risks of securities trading and the need for regulation.
This is a good example of a case where US politicians are involved and in this case attempting prevent the US Fed from issuing Central Bank Digital Currency. On the grounds that current anonymity of crypto would be impacted if customers had to register with US authorities to by Federal Digital Currency. On the contrary that would place the Fed in a difficult position for AML and KYC regulation.
Just an example of the attention that digital assets are receiving.
