Europe and the UK is struggling to keep up with the U.S economically. Depending on U.S technology, energy, capital and military protection.
Important for cybersecurity? Simply put yes, ‘he who pays the piper calls the tune’ and when it comes to technology and cyber, that’s the U.S. As cyber regulation develops it will become a barrier for trade on both sides of the pond. It’s clearly a national security issue for Defence.
The SEC cyber proposal will effect access to U.S capital markets. The DoD DFARS program effects defense industry cyber security and recent ONCD national cyber strategy has set out the intention to regulate cyber.
One should consider the effects of the EU and U.S diverging economically and the effect on cybersecurity and regulation.
