Every nation-state, with an offensive cyber capability, has a Cyber-Kinetic doctrine. As the line between physical and logical blur in as much as cyber feeds kinetic warfare with intelligence, and the ability to target CNI and other physical assets.
It pays to ensure that your asset registers are up-to-date and assets are patched. It also raises the questions about deploying technology assets from nation-states that could pose a future threat to security. More so when governance over digital threats and cyber is so poor.
One wonders if the EU is feeling a little smug, while it will take time to implement its strategy for cybersecurity, which includes regulation for CNI, Financial services, OT, and digitally enabled products and services. While the recent US cyber strategy sets out a vision for US cyber and the US DoW CMMC program, provides the DoW with the leverage required to enforce Defence Industry Base cybersecurity, which it has required since 2016.
