Flexibility, agility and the innate ability to transform themselves at a much faster pace than governments and organisations is a reason hackers are successful, and the fact that many organisations and governments have waited to address the problem.

With the ability to transform, using the same digital model for evolution used by organisation, cyber attackers have created a paradigm whereby governments and organisations are always fighting the last war. Defensive cyber is now important and starting to be regulated, and whilst we cannot protect everything, we must protect what is important and we need to be lateral and radical in our thinking to find solutions.

Market places will come and go, but the impact of geopolitics on cyber attacks and cyber crime drives value creation for hackers and their focus be it ransomware, wiping or both. Data is as much a commodity for hackers, as it is for the rest of us.
