Following the recent 5 eyes meeting of security chiefs. The head of the FBI reiterated the unprecedented focus of the Chinese state on espionage and IP theft. The Frequency, Complexity and Severity of Impact of the cyber attacks over the past 3 years demonstrates the effectiveness of cyber as a tool to gain strategic and competitive advantage.
An obvious question but when does a national change or transformation program work without ‘establishing a sense of urgency’ (Kotter 1- 8 step for transformation). One is concerned that few have the sense of urgency and are emboldened enough to create, communicate, plan and deliver a vision necessary to manage the problem that is cybersecurity risk management.
We hear allot of ‘concerned’ communications, but we are still keeping our hands warm by the burning bridge.
