For the UK the Huawei relationship is a very deep and complex one. On one side there are many of our partners like the US and Australia who have, or are, removing the company from their networks. For well rooted security reasons, justifying links to the Chinese Government and security services.
On the other the UK has worked with the company for well over 15 years and its technology is already embedded into the telecommunications infrastructure of the country.
Is the UK being nieve, can we really control the technology. Should we maintain a relationship with a supplier of our CNI, with ties to the Chinese government. Or should we accept that we have had and should continue to maintain a strong relationship with one of the world’s largest telecoms providers?
Questions, questions. no easy answers.
