Global Defense contractors have been a target for years, it’s the reason the DoD updated DFARS regulations back in 2017 following several GAO audits. But more recently NATO hacks and the public disclosure by MBDA highlight the growing problem. A great synopsis of the threat vector by Securonix can be found here and is worth reading. (https://lnkd.in/eap_Rw_w)
‘The covert campaign, which researchers at Securonix detected and are tracking as STEEP#MAVERICK, has hit multiple weapons contractors in Europe in recent months, including potentially a supplier to the US F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft program.’
Ted Dziekanowski one suspects this threat is not from a Script Kiddy, it is well thought out, prepared and managed. Most defense contractors will not be prepared to deal with this level of sophistication. It demonstrates the rational of the DoD DFARS 252.204-7012 program requiring the defense industry from Primes to the bottom of the supply chain implement NIST SP 800-171 to secure CUI. The requirements of which can be found here www.cmmc-eu.com
