The developing the regulatory environment requires leadership, and above all a clear strategy that sets direction and objectives. The severity of the situation we find ourselves with cybersecurity makes this more important, and the challenge governments face is how to deliver a coherent robust whole of society approach to cybersecurity. The complexity of the cyber problem creates significant challenges for the creation of a cyber strategy and program. Cyber touches every aspect of the public, private sector and all members of society. It’s the most complex and expensive risk to mitigate for all stakeholders. One suspects the problem is the ‘pink elephant’ in the room is to big for any single sitting and know one knows how to carve it up in to bit sized chunks.
Kotter’s burning bridge has been lite and all the jigsaw pieces are on the table. A visionary is needed to bring it all together into a clear strategy and plan.
