Here endeth the lesson for AI. It’s coming for white and blue collar jobs and roles, but not in the sense of slash and burn.

As the article points out, there will be winners and losers across the jobs market. But the losers may not be at a complete loss. Jobs will evolve, change and develop as AI changes the jobs market and the roles people undertake within it.

It’s the same process that society has followed through every industrial evolution. Going back to the first real industrial revolution from the 1770s, that saw the introduction of the steam engine, and transition to new textile manufacturing processes (there was a bit of a luddite revolution).

The difference with AI today is the raw material used by AI is data that’s readily available; created by all of us; every day we create petabytes more and AI has already consumed allot of it; where AI is being used to automate processes in hours rather than months or years.

Like previous industrial revolutions AI will transform society in ways that we as yet do not know, or fully understand. AI will enable employees to create more and better quality value for companies; as AI consumes low value repetitive work, at a lower cost Dan Miles?

Tom McLeod AI will revolutionise knowledge industries such as internal audit, where we can automate the cyber audit process. Reducing audit time by as much as 80%. But rather than reducing revenues for audit firms. AI enables more audits to be done across by an industry where resources are in short supply. Where cyber regulation requires companies demonstrate oversight and assurance of cybersecurity risk management (EU NIS 2 and DORA, SEC final cyber rule), or risk civil and criminal penalties.
