Here in lies the problem for cybersecurity. Its only one example, but it is indicative of the challenges that are ahead for companies as they try and address cybersecurity risk management.
Companies simply do not grasp the need to adopt the most basic cybersecurity controls, such as Access Management. Access Management is a primary cyber control, it is a control that is foundational to all other controls. If you cannot manage access control, along side asset management, then you cannot manage cybersecurity (or physical security).
Access Management is a primary cyber control for a reason. Every cyber attack that has ever taken place is rooted in a failure to manage access management.
