I am pleased to be speaking at the The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. data governance event tomorrow. At a time when U.S and EU businesses are going through an unprecedented amount of change, as it related to cybersecurity regulation. Regulation that includes the SEC final cyber rule, EU NIS 2 and DORA.
With this in mind I will be discussing U.S and EU cyber regulations and the effects on board governance, oversight, assurance and attestation. Importantly what adequate compliance could look like, the key role of internal audit as part of a 3 Line of Defence program to assure compliance, and the opportunity for international harmonisation of oversight and assurance.
