I have a problem with my car at the moment, it’s a small hatchback I use to drive around the local neighbourhood. The problem is it’s pinking when it’s cold, at low revs, and when under power. My car manual tells me all of the things it could be, and no matter how many sensors I replace, it’s not going away.

The same is true here with cyber. 99% of companies are SMEs, and we give them the manual on how to manage cyber. But cyber is complex, requires many tools to manage risk, and a recognition that there’s a problem that needs addressing.

There comes a point where, like my car, you have to recognise that it’s likely to only get fixed by taking it to the garage, which has seen 100’s of cars that pink and will fix it.

The manual alone won’t help fix the problem. You can take a horse to water, but you can’t necessarily make it drink, like me and my car.
