I recently posted a comment about the strength of defense stocks, and the potential impact on market value if contractors lose contracts.
In the enclosed article, financial markets can react negatively to the loss of contracts before regaining ground to remain flat. In this case, Babcock shares fell on the news that the company lost an order worth around $4.25billion to a French Rival.
In my previous post, I commented on the effects of compliance with regulatory standards required by the United States Department of War for contract award. Requirements that have been in place since 2016. Companies that do not comply with the cyber requirements for self-assessment and independent compliance certification cannot be awarded a contract or subcontract. For Public companies, that rely on long supply covered chains, this may become an issue for capital markets.
While the DIB assesses its compliance, price, maintenance, and service is not the only lens through which the DoD views new orders. The DoD views cyber regulatory compliance alongside other risks for contract and option awards.
