If correct and nation state actors used Anthropic to launch an automated cyber attack using its Anthropic then its a clear public demonstration of automated and semi antonymous Cyber AI. It is reported that AI handled 90% of the attack, and targeted 30 government and corporate targets its a game changer.
It’s concerning to note that cyber stocks fell and cyber insurance stocks rose. Crowd strike and Palo Alto stocks fell, demonstrating the fickle mature of markets and increasing concern that tech is not the answer to cyber. It’s also concerning that the markets think that Cyber Insurance is a back stop for cyber attacks. As cyber insurers are already under increased pressure to raise premium income, yet the cyber coverage gap is increasing as many, most, organisations do not have the capabilities necessary to manage cyber risk.
Antonymous, automated, cyber attacks change the cyber landscape. Companies have to adopt defensive cyber as a mater of urgency.
