If either side in the Ukraine Russian war revert to using the cyber domain of operation, then the anticipated impact could be significant for both sides. While cyber is one of the biggest threats to the economy the impact on either side if they use cyber as a weapon would be large, as the cyber maturity of most companies in the West and Russia is very low.
Small business make up the predominant number of companies, that larger companies rely on across their supply chains. This discounts the lack of investment that larger firms have made in their cyber, as simply demonstrated by the US DoD CMMC program. This was clearly demonstrated by the attack reported on a company in Toyotas supply chain last week.
