Is there an opportunity for the insurance industry to lead the way in cyber. The industry, to some degree, is in a privileged position, more so than the cyber service providers themselves. They deal with clients at every stage of the cyber process, from underwriting through to claims. It is in their interest to ensure that their clients have got cyber risk management right.
Is there an opportunity for the industry to work together and with clients to set out what good looks like? The US DoD did it through their CMMC programme, setting the standards for the security of sensitive data. Should the insurance industry do something similar?
There is an opportunity to take the lead, with plenty of upside and possibly little downside. Setting the basic requirements that are expected for their clients, to be covered.
Thoughts anyone?
