It’s a week of cyber updates from the US. The DoD, GSA and NASA will issue a proposed update to U.S Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to the Federal Register on the 15.01.25.The update is important. The rule proposes to apply cybersecurity controls for the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) under Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) to procurement process. The implications being that organisations covered by FAR could be required to demonstrate that they have implemented appropriate cybersecurity controls over CUI. In a similar manner US Defence Contractors are required to comply with DFARS 252.204-7012 and comply with NIST SP 800-171However FAR rules cover almost all suppliers to Federal government, national and international.A further example of the development of US cyber regulation, for the protection of national security.@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D.
