Call us now:
It’s that time of year when we start to predict what cyber looks like next year. For 2020 the software industry figures will predict a sales CAGR of 10 – 15% and cyber insurance will probably do the same and for those at the sharp end of cyber, governments, corporates and customers there will be a similar picture in 2020 as 2019. More hacks, data breaches and ransomware and rises in remediation costs. But things will start to improve. Some of my own predication’s.
1. Boards will still struggle to focus on cyber risk. But the board cyber journey will become clearer, as serious and material hacks continue, and as the financial markets, regulators and auditors start to actively focus on cyber as a material, systemic risk.
2. The regulatory environment will get tougher as regulators continue to up their game and visibly increase enforcement actions.
3. There will be the start of a consolidation of software vendors. The cyber market is awash with security solutions.
4. Geo-politically motivated hacks will be seen more openly.
5. Like many other industries, professional standards for security professionals will be openly debated.
6. The lack of skilled, experienced resources will continue be a problem.
