Japan is moving ahead with cyber legislation introducing a national cybersecurity agency in line with the U.S and UK. As Japan faces a growing threat of cyber attacks affecting Critical National Infrastructure.

‘The government has positioned cyber defense as a matter of national security, given that cyber attacks can threaten critical infrastructure such as telecommunications, the electricity grid, healthcare, cashless payments and remote work’

One is not convinced however that the UK is a model of choice, when considering cybersecurity. Given the recent government report ‘A hostage to fortune: ransomware and UK national security’ and the lack of a clear cyber policy or defensive strategy for UK industry.
