Last week Halliburton announced its 3rd Quarter 2024 results, announcing a healthy set of results for the quarter. What was of interest is the company announced the figures associated with the impact of the September cyber attack. The attack impacted free cash flow during the quarter due to delayed billing and collections. Alongside storms in Mexico, impacting adjusted earnings by 2 cents per share.

The quarterly update revealed the cost of the cyber attack on the company, setting aside $35mn in impairment and other charges related to the incident.

While in no way material, the update demonstrates cyber incidents are rising up the corporate agenda. As board are more transparent as to the effects of cyber incidents, required under SEC cyber rules.
