Malaysia’s cyber law comes into effect this week, establishing a broad compliance framework that pulls together the National Cybersecurity Security Committee, Chief Executive of the National Cyber Security Agency, National Critical Information Infrastructure (NCII) entities and cybersecurity providers.

The law sets requirements for NCII entities to deliver initial reports of cyber incidents within 6 hours, complete cybersecurity risk assessments and audits, and for cybersecurity service providers such as managed security operation center monitoring services and pen testers. Or those that in any way hold himself or herself out as a provide of security service must hold a relevant licence.

The Malaysians are moving ahead rapidly to place oversight, assurance and control around their cyber industry and those entities across CNI.
