National security will dominate the US-China relationship, as national security and not trade will be the order of the day.
‘One suspects the days of mutually beneficial trade and enthusiastic engagement with China are over, as U.S relations focus on limiting Chinas threat to the U.S military.’ (sic)
With this in mind, one wonders the future for cybersecurity and the impact of cyber as a domain of operation, following recent comments by senior cyber leaders in the U.S and UK.(https://lnkd.in/e_XfKwUF)
We have for a very long time neglected defensive cyber in favor of more exciting offensive cyber programs. We now need industry to adopt a defensive posture, building their capabilities to repel cyber attacks, a capability that has been held back under the umbrella of a FUD debate.
As we yet again edge closer to conflict where cyber is a domain of operation, we should ask ourselves, ‘how do we implement good enough cyber defenses?’ Defenses that industry has been reluctant to adopt due to the FUD debate, and simple economics. A posture that is now being regulated.
