Call us now:
One has made predications about the future of cybersecurity for many years and the with help of the Veritas GRC team including Brian D. McCarthy and @Thaddeus Dziekanowski who have been pretty spot on about its future (you can go back and read what we wrote in 2021 on the www.augustagrp.com website). However rather than make predictions for 2025 one reflects on the biggest single issue cyber has faced in 2024, shaping cybersecurity in 2025. Thats the geopolitical effects of cyber; the watershed moments of cyber espionage. The knife edge we site on with regard our ability to protect digital infrastructure from intrusion and the ability of corporates to address the cybersecurity risk management challenge.2024 is a year of significant firsts. While 2023 saw some pretty decent cyber attacks, 2024 has been the year of nation state cyber. Major incidents in 2024 include attacks on U.S healthcare and automotive, SnowFlake, Synnovis, Microsoft and the attack on U.S Telecoms providers. Lets also not forget the wakeup call of the Crowdstrike incident. Nation state cyber is a problem for a simple reason. There’s plenty of talk of defensive cyber by nation states, but most don’t have the tools in place to deliver it. It requires more than technical products, it requires a whole of society strategy that makes cyber a cultural problem. It requires a blended mix of carrot and stick. One only has to look at Australia’s cyber strategy based on the foundational belief in a whole of society approach to security and privacy. Or the EUs adoption of cyber regulation. So yes there needs to be a conversation on Salt Typhoon. The threat posed by nation state cyber will be 2025s biggest issue. Everything else stems from the fact that nation state cyber drives the tools used in cyber crime.@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D. McCarthy Faisal Khan Rachel V.
