One has to look at the text of EU NIS 2.0 proposal and DORA published this week and hope that the UK is able to develop regulation to address cybersecurity risk management. Regulation in line with recent U.S, EU and Australian announcements.

This week the EU released both EU NIS 2.0 and DORA, and along with the U.S has regulation and enforcement regimes in the pipeline that are worth reading. Along with the SEC cybersecurity risk management proposal they define defensive cyber compliance requirements for CNI providers, financial institutions, defense and the manufacturers of digitally enabled products and services. Setting out clear accountability and responsibility for the public and private sector to develop and manage with cybersecurity risk management framework, cybersecurity standards, policies, procedures, governance, education, management accountability and regulatory enforcement. Following principles based and prescriptive regulation.

Consider this, ‘Exports of services by the digital sector were worth £56 billion in 2020, which is around a fifth of the UK’s total service exports’. With the EU, U.S and Australia delivering cyber supply chain risk management regulation that impacts the suppliers of digital products and services. UK business will have to comply.
