One should consider the statement made by the CEO of HSBC UK, especially when one considers the amount of resources companies such as HSBC spend on the management of cybersecurity risk.

At a recent UK government Treasury Committee hearing Ian Stuart, and other senior banking executives, discussed cyber attacks and the effort banks put into secure their systems and that across banking infrastructure.

I think the amount of money banks – all of us – will be putting into our systems is enormous,

By my own reconning systemically important banks spend on average $400million each annually on cyber security.

One suspects the threat of cyberattacks keeps many CEOs awake at night.
