One wonders the size of the fine that the ICO will issue against Capita, with the company company setting aside £15 million – £20 million to cover the incident, there’s unlikely to be any head room to cover an ICO fine. The ICO has not taken a strong line on data breach fines, if the EU, U.S or Australia are to be used as bench marks.

One suspects, given the recent breach, that markets will be looking at Capita and the funding of cybersecurity in its U.K and Europeans operations. As EU CNI and Financial clients will be required to account for the cyber risks associated with their businesses, supply chains and outsource service providers.
