One would say that this is not so much an issue of the hackers turning on ChatGPT. It’s more concerning that ChatGPT is being hacked and when one puts on a CIA hat. Data Integrity of AI systems such as Chat GPT is more important, if we are going to rely on AI as our big data analytics engine and decision maker. We need to assure that the decision making is using reliable data, its accurate, and above all safe.
While this incident is seen as a minor one, it does demonstrate the vulnerability of AI to exploitation (as with all systems). We face a very real problem with AI that needs to be addressed by regulators. Having been involved in AI engineering systems 20 years ago I get the benefits of AI. We were working to develop KBS and KBE solutions to automate manufacturing processes. Processes that required allot of mechanical interlocks to prevent danger to human life. We recognised that getting in front of an upset 500kg robot that’s having a bad day, especially if its been tampered with, was not a good idea. Replacing the robot with a banking platform or a decision making engine controlling CNI may not be much different.
