Only 0.1% of Capita servers were effected by its cyber breach. In this case that 0.1% may have contained data belonging to GPs and 90 organizations that contacted the ICO following the breach.

One suspects that the costs of incident remediation and the longer term impact of the incident on Capita, will be a focus of Capital markets and credit rating agencies. As the markets and credit rating agencies pay attention to the impact of the data breach on Capita’s sales and operating costs. As reports of the NHS splitting its primary care support into separate units, following the data breach have been announced.

One hopes the £15 – £20 million spent on the incident will be used to fund the necessary cybersecurity risk management to meet EU NIS 2. Cyber regulation that will weigh heavy on Capita’s EU business.
