Our economies face many global challenges that call for globally coordinated solutions. Challenges and crisis that test economic and financial systems that rely heavily on good, coordinated governance. Our need and reliance on stable well managed financing to manage crisis is well documented. Access to capital is a primary lever for the global economy, without capital, debt and cashflow no nation can drive an economy. Products such as fixed income, bonds, securities, equities, debt financing, money markets, insurance that form, structure and protect capital and manage risk to enable growth.

As an engineer, cyber and risk professional one is acutely aware of the role that technology plays in the growth of our global economies over the past 150 years. Technology is the foundation of financial markets and the foundation of most organizations product and services. Our CNI and defenses rely on technology, that in turn boards rely and without good corporate governance they will fail to manage their financial statements and fail to prevent the biggest non-kinetic threat to technology we face today, that comes from cyber attacks.

As markets become more regulated, good corporates governance becomes the board tool to oversight and assure the delivery of technology and cyber regulatory compliance. That financial markets increasingly require to assure the financial stability of investments and corporate risk management.

From December 2023 many boards reliant on U.S capital markets will be attuned to corporate governance. As they report material cyber risks, incidents and attest to cyber compliance. Likely without risk management tools such as D&O or cyber insurance.
